\n \n \n \n \n TEST: Whale Watchering Guidelines<\/title><br \/>\n<\/head><br \/>\n<body><\/p>\n<div id=\"content\">\n<div id=\"sim\">\n<h1>Whale Watching Guidelines<\/h1>\n<div class=\"info\" style=\"height: 400px; overflow-y: scroll; margin: 10px; padding: 10px 25px;\">\n<p>\n Active whales require ample space. In all<br \/>\n cases, do not restrict normal movement or<br \/>\n behavior of whales, or take actions that<br \/>\n may evoke a reaction from whales or<br \/>\n result in physical contact with a whale.\n <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\n To protect whales and avoid harassment of<br \/>\n whales, NOAA Fisheries provided the<br \/>\n following guidelines that may be applied<br \/>\n to all whale watching.\n <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>WHEN IN SIGHT OF WHALES (less than five football fields away):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid excessive speed or sudden changes in speed or direction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>CLOSE APPROACH PROCEDURE (less than two football fields away):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approach stationary whales at no more than idle or "no wake" speed.<\/li>\n<li>Parallel the course and speed of moving whales.<\/li>\n<li>Do not attempt a head-on approach to moving or resting whales.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>NO INTENTIONAL APPROACH (less than 100 feet away):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not intentionally approach within 100 feet of whales.<\/li>\n<li>\n If whales approach within 100 feet of<br \/>\n your vessel, put engine in neutral and<br \/>\n do not re-engage props until whales<br \/>\n are observed at the surface, clear of<br \/>\n the vessel.\n <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\n Active whales require ample space. Breaching, lobtailing, and<br \/>\n flipper-slapping whales may endanger people and\/or vessels.<br \/>\n Feeding whales often emit subsurface bubbles before rising to<br \/>\n feed at the surface.
