\n Active whales require ample space. In all
\n cases, do not restrict normal movement or
\n behavior of whales, or take actions that
\n may evoke a reaction from whales or
\n result in physical contact with a whale.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\n To protect whales and avoid harassment of
\n whales, NOAA Fisheries provided the
\n following guidelines that may be applied
\n to all whale watching.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
WHEN IN SIGHT OF WHALES (less than five football fields away):<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
CLOSE APPROACH PROCEDURE (less than two football fields away):<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
NO INTENTIONAL APPROACH (less than 100 feet away):<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\n Active whales require ample space. Breaching, lobtailing, and
\n flipper-slapping whales may endanger people and\/or vessels.
\n Feeding whales often emit subsurface bubbles before rising to
\n feed at the surface. Stand clear of light green bubble patches.
\n In all cases, do not restrict normal movement or behavior of whales,
\n or take actions that may evoke a reaction from whales or result in
\n physical contact with a whale.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\n Diving on whales is considered to be an intentional approach of
\n whales and may be considered a violation of federal law.\n <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
